¡Hola! Yo soy Señora Susan Marchica-Iadevaia. I am the Spanish teacher for grades K-8. Below you will find a brief description of our Spanish curriculum. If you have any questions please email me at SMarchica5561@sdkfzj.com
Elementary Spanish classes meet weekly. We will focus on Spanish music and art. Spanish songs will help students learn and practice vocabulary. Music is a fantastic tool for language acquisition, it makes learning fun and memorable. We will be learning various Spanish songs that introduce new words and phrases. I love when students come to class singing a Spanish song they learned the previous weeks.
Students will be coloring pictures that relate to Spanish vocabulary words. This will help create a visual connection to the language.
I believe that by combining music and art, our students will develop a deeper appreciation for the Spanish language and culture while having fun.
Middle school Spanish meets three days a week. I am confident that our curriculum will enhance our students' understanding and appreciation of Spanish.
This year, we will place a strong emphasis on grammar, as it is the backbone of effective communication in any language. Our students will learn the conjugation and usage of regular verbs that end in -ar, - er, and -ir. This will give students the confidence needed to form sentences.
In addition to regular verbs, we will explore irregular verbs and stem-changing verbs.
There will be various activities and projects to reinforce these concepts.
We will be expanding our vocabulary throughout the year, focusing on words and phrases that are relevant to their daily lives and interests. These units, such as family, food, hobbies, adjectives, clothing, animals, furniture, weather and sports will make learning Spanish fun.
Each grade level will have a project based on a different Spanish speaking country. Below you will find some pictures of the wonderful projects middle school has worked on.
